Do not be afraid of the Future. Do not grief for the Past.
Have you found yourself overthinking?
Overthinking consumes the energy of the body, takes away the good mood, brings nothing else except frustration. It keeps overloading. In addition, puts a heavyweight on the shoulder that unknowingly you carry throughout the day.
So!
Let’s find out first why do we overthink?
Most probably for two main reasons: we think of our past and current situation by relating it to the future.
That is:
We think about what happened in the past and feel upset about the particular incident that happened once upon a time. Moreover, we think about our current situation, and based upon that we make assumptions (which didn’t happen yet) for the future and worry about it consequently.
What are the reasons?
- No doubt, the more we grow old, the more negative thoughts overwhelm us. It mostly happens when we forget about the good things that happened in life. Surprisingly, we tend to forget about good stuff most of the time.
- Our minds can travel in the blink of an eye everywhere around the world. Suddenly you find yourself in Africa, Europe, or China. However, our body remains in the same place. Therefore, in a minute you find yourself in the past of your life story and emotions overtake you. And you feel grief. In a minute your thoughts will take you to the assumption future, and you start to worry, worry, and worry.
What’s the best solution?
How do we resolve it?
Let’s see a child. How do they think? What do they do?
They live a today’s life. Their choice is nothing but to live happy.
- Cure yourself with a response. Whenever negative thoughts come to your mind, reply by contradicting it. Talk to yourself. Moreover, give yourself positive affirmations. Like, “I am going to be all right”, “I am going to be healthy”, “I learned from my mistakes, from now on I am going to better person” etc.
- Be grateful. Be grateful for what situation you are in. Appreciate the blessings you have; appreciate the money you have, appreciate your children, and appreciate your job. Appreciate whatever you are blessed with.
- Be in charge of your thoughts. Do not allow your thoughts to consume you; consume your energy, mind, heart. Control it. Thoughts are unavoidable, but you can equip yourself with a filter. Filter it. Filter your thoughts. Let only good thoughts touch you.
- And finally – focus on “NOW”. Strive for better. Make effort to improve yourself every day. And live the life of today. You are here now: you are drinking tea now, you are cooking now, you are doing your project now, and you are talking to your friend now.
Lastly, while applying all these steps in your life, you need to be patient with yourself. It requires a lot of training and time.
Live the Present. Enjoy the moment.
